Contacting A Counselor
Students can access counselors, by emailing them, filling out a form in the counseling office, or submitting a google form (for Mrs. Patterson's students only). Sometimes students just stop by and if available, Counselors will talk with them immediately. Student's are often referred to the Counseling office by teachers or Administration.
We do not call home every time we talk with a student. However, if we feel that the matter is important we will call contact parents and guardians together with the student, contact parents separately via email or phone call. We are open to meeting with parents at any time about any concern.
Complaints about Bullying or Harrassment
If a counselor receives a complaint from a student or parent/gaurdian, who feels their student or another student are being bullied or harrassed, we investigate this complaint by having the student fill out a report, interviewing all parties involved and report it to parents as well as our administrators, who inturn, notify the District offices. Consequences for bullying and harrassment are handled by the Principal and Assistant Principal, not the Counselors.
Student safety and security is important to us here at Platt. Please contact a counselor with any issues or concerns. View the Platt Safety Website
