The mission of the Nevin Platt Middle School Library Media Center is to create a safe and inclusive environment in which all students feel a sense of belonging and support and are inspired by their learning, collaborate with others, and develop valuable 21st-century learning skills. 

We believe that:

• The school library collection should reflect and engage the diverse population which it serves - students should feel seen & heard
• All students should have equitable opportunities to pursue personal interests through reading, research, and hands-on experiences
• Students learn in different ways and need different types of support, including the furniture and design of the space
• Collaborations between the library and teachers, administrators, support staff, and families can promote student achievement
• The organization, evaluation and ethical use of information is essential to being a responsible citizen
• The creation of information is just as important as its consumption
• Technology opens the door to creative, global pursuits and future readiness

• A NPMS student ID # or Name is needed to checkout any item from the Library.
• Checkouts are for 3 weeks.
• You may bring in a book and renew it for another 3 weeks. (Limit of 1 renew)
• Maximum of 3 items checked out at one time.

• Students with excessively overdue materials will be charged a $5 fine or find an alternative together.
• If an item is lost, the Library must be reimbursed the replacement cost or find an alternative together.
• Students with overdue or lost materials will be unable to check out further material until an alternative arrangement has been made between the family and school librarian.

Students using computers in the Library are subject to BVSD Acceptable Use Policies.
