CHOICE Nuts and Bolts

At the beginning of the year, CHOICE students are required to create three year-long goals (two academic and one personal) and to develop strategies for achieving these goals. The purpose of the goal-setting conference in September is for your child to meet with his/her co-op teacher and parent(s) to discuss and finalize these goals.

The purpose of the mid-year conference is for your child to meet with his/her co-op teacher and parent(s) to examine progress made on goals set at the beginning of the year and progress made on Portfolio Skill Requirements. Your child will present their accomplishments  and show evidence of progress.

The purpose of the end of year conference is for your child to meet with his/her co-op teacher and parent(s) to share progress made on goals and additional Portfolio Skill Requirements that were completed since the mid-year conference. In addition, your child will present several end of the year reflections and a visual that represents his or her year in CHOICE.

Each year students are expected to complete community service hours through an organization of their choosing.  

• Students who live within the Nevin Platt Middle School attendance area receive free transportation to CHOICE provided by the BVSD transportation department.
• Students who live outside of the Nevin Platt Middle School attendance area will need to find alternative transportation to school.
• Platt is conveniently located along RTD bus routes at Cherryvale Road and Baseline Road.

Yes!  We welcome families to volunteer for various field trips and events throughout the school year.  Specific information is shared via the CHOICE newsletter prior to each opportunity.  Please be sure you have all of your paperwork on file at the beginning of the year to ensure you are ready to join our adventures.  Volunteering forms and information can be found here.
