STUDENT HANDBOOK and BVSD STUDENT RIGHTS

Please view our Platt/CHOICE Student Handbook for this information.  The Platt Student Handbook and BVSD Student Rights and Responsibilities Guide outlines the policies, procedures, and expectations for students while they are on campus this year.

EXTERIOR DOORS:

All exterior doors, including the front doors, will be locked starting at 8:45am through 3:45pm.

VISITORS TO CAMPUS:

All visitors must enter through our front doors and sign in at the main office front desk. Be prepared to state the purpose of your visit to Platt and provide ID as the office staff member on duty may not recognize you even if you are a regular volunteer. A badge will be issued to all visitors and you will be expected to wear this at all time throughout your visit on school grounds.

PARKING LOT:

To ensure the safety of our students, please review our front parking lot (west side) procedures.  No students may be dropped off/picked up in the back of the building (south side) as this is the bus loop.  CHOICE students may be dropped-off / picked-up by the CHOICE door on the east side of the building. 

Drop Off

1. Vehicles need to pull into the Hug n Go (drop off/pick up) lane which is closest to the school. The outside lane is a moving lane, which allows people to exit.
2. Students will remain in the car until it reaches the "drop off zone" which is the yellow zone along the red curb. Please pull all the way forward to allow for many cars to drop off at once.
3. Students need to have all belongings with them and be prepared to exit the vehicle quickly.
4. Please have children exit on the curbside for their safety.

Pick Up

1. Vehicles need to pull into the Hug-n-Go lane which is closest to the school. Drivers must remain in the car.
2. Students may enter their cars anywhere in the yellow zone along the red curb. Students may not enter cars in any other areas. 
3. After picking up your children, vehicles will pull into the moving lane and exit.
4. Remaining cars move forward closing the gap to allow for additional cars to enter the lane.
5. We appreciate your support in keeping traffic off of Baseline Road by pulling into parking spaces.  Once parked, stay in your vehicle and look for your student.  Once you see your student, proceed to the Hug and Go lane to pick them up.  Students may not enter the parking lot on foot.

Other Important Guidelines

• Complete all cell phone call/texts before entering the Hug n Go lane.
• Please review our Map of Parking Lot Flow shown below. Follow the directional arrows indicating which way traffic flows in the parking lot.
• Hug n Go Lane (closest to the school) is for drop off and pick up only, no parking, remain in your vehicle.
• While waiting in the Hug n Go lane, do not block the crosswalks. Be sure to move forward filling in all spaces between cars.
• All students must remain on the sidewalk until a parent accompanies them into the parking lot. Park your car and walk across to meet your student.
• No students will be allowed in the parking lot on their own.
• All families will cross into the parking lot via a crosswalk.
• All students and adults will walk their bike, scooter or skateboard once on school property on the sidewalk, not in the parking lot.
• Parents may also pick their student up in the CHOICE parking lot on the east side of the building as this area is less congested.
• In order to support these efforts, all staff are parking in the back parking lot.
